Ackumulator tank

An accumulator tank helps you reduce your heating costs by harnessing energy from heated water. This allows you to balance uneven energy consumption and have continuous access to hot water – even when your pellet boiler is not running. Traditionally, accumulator tanks have been used with wood boilers, but technically they can be used in combination with all types of heat sources. For example, a Laddotank works ideally with Ulma's pellet systems.

What is the Function of an Accumulator Tank?

Accumulator tanks are containers designed to store a large amount of heated water by keeping it insulated. Hot water from a heat source is pumped into the top of the tank and then used for a property's water-based heating system as needed. An accumulator tank can also function as a water heater.

Laddotank is a tank manufactured for today's and future energy sources. The hot water coil is made of stainless steel, making it less sensitive to issues like hard water. All coils are designed to provide your system with hot water in the best and fastest way possible.

The coils in Laddotank can also be used as coils for underfloor heating.

How Much Does an Accumulator Tank Cost? The Price Varies!

As with most things, this varies between different models and what you're looking for. We have two main categories of tanks with the same basic principle. At Ulma, we have three additional features that individually add a few thousand kronor to the cheapest variant, Buffer Tanks, which lack internal water coils but instead have many connections. These function similarly to a water heater that maintains the water temperature at the right level thanks to its excellent insulation.

The additions to the buffer tank include a hot water coil used to heat water that does not come into contact with the rest of the hot water system, for example, for showers. For those who have another heat source, there is the option to purchase an accumulator tank with a heat coil that receives hot water from the secondary system, such as solar panels or a backup that helps during potential outages.

These attributes are available in all combinations with us, so you can easily find the one that best meets your needs. The final option is the size of the accumulator tank; all models are available in both 500 and 800 liters to choose from.

Should I Choose a 500-Liter or 800-Liter Accumulator Tank?

At Ulma, we offer accumulator tanks in 500 and 800 liters. Which size you should choose depends on your hot water needs and the capacity of your system or boiler. If you have space for an 800-liter tank, you should choose that, as it is always better to harness as much energy as possible. Not only when it comes to reducing your costs but also for the environment.

With an accumulator tank from Laddotank, you can, in addition to pellets, also connect other heat sources such as solar panels and a heat pump. In this way, you can reduce your pellet consumption and take advantage of solar energy efficiently. We recently wrote a post on how to best optimize your pellet usage here.

Reduce Your Emissions with an Accumulator Tank

When it comes to old, outdated wood boilers, they emit harmful amounts of carbon dioxide and methane when in operation. By installing an accumulator tank, you can increase your efficiency by up to 85%. At Ulma, we recommend replacing your old boiler with a new one, but if this is not possible, an accumulator tank is the next best choice.
